Going the extra mile: How we delivered on TUPE Commitments

The last year has seen several members of staff celebrating significant long service periods Long Service Awards E arlier this year, Davies Turner Logistics took on two exciting new contracts that are now operating out of our Atherstone logistics hub. As the contracts were being transferred from other suppliers, the people working on them at those companies were protected by TUPE legislation. Had they been located near to Atherstone, their employment would have simply transferred to Davies Turner and they would have joined the team at Atherstone. Communication and consultation Unfortunately, this was not the case so we had to ensure that we communicated and consulted with all those people involved – 61 people in two different locations, both quite a distance from Atherstone. We held a number of group meetings and then conducted at least two meetings with each person – as you will see this

meant we had to pull together a team to help deliver this huge commitment. The team at Atherstone focused on onboarding the new customers, whilst over 15 people from Coleshill, Dartford, Customs Compliance and Credit Control all pulled together to ensure that, not only did we meet our legal obligations, but we met with all the people to address any concerns they may have had during this period of uncertainty for them. The team effort wasn’t limited to just holding the meetings, people pulled together, as is the Davies Turner way, helping prepare the information packs, collecting paperwork at weekends, making much needed cups of coffee and taking on new challenges with long hours and journeys involved for all. It was a huge undertaking and we are extremely grateful to those who gave up their time, and in some cases handled some slightly awkward meetings and scenarios, all in the support of DTL’s new site at Atherstone.
