Jorgen Munch leaves A s we wrap up the year and look forward to the festive season, we look back and celebrate the long career of Jorgen Munch, who also retired in April after an outstanding 34 years of service with the company, writes Danny Southby. Jorgen joined Davies Turner in 1991, initially selling services
with our long-standing partner Gebrüder Weiss. These were the days when reciprocal sales visits were the norm, and so frequent trips to Austria and the wider Weissland were made, and representatives hosted in the UK. Jorgen’s warm, likeable personality endeared him with customers and partners alike. His tenacity and dedication in both securing new clients and retaining key accounts became evident, paving the way for a series of leadership roles. He was a key player in the development of our relationship with Raben, managing the split-up that followed and then the coming together again a number of years later! In 2013, Jorgen was appointed Head of European Development, where he played a pivotal role supporting
After an outstanding 34 years of service with the company ” “
me in strengthening our network across the continent, flying the flag for DT with a wide variety of partners, hauliers and with organisations like System Alliance Europe.
Personally my early foreign trips were almost always accompanying Jorgen across Poland, the Czech Republic and Italy, among other places, and I admired his ability to walk into a room of strangers and quickly build a rapport and put them at ease.
Solid customer base By 2017, he expanded his portfolio to include North Africa, and for the last years of his career Jorgen successfully built a solid base of customers in the UK outsourcing to Morocco and Tunisia, providing a vital link between clients, operations and our overseas partners and delegates in markets which are very much ‘hands on’. Sales requires determination in the face of many obstacles and Jorgen embodied this, earning the respect of clients, some of whom have become long lasting friends. His legacy is one of professionalism, collaboration, and unwavering commitment to customer service. As Jorgen embarks on this exciting new chapter he will spend as much time on the golf course as the Rochdale weather allows, alongside frequent travel across Europe and to his native Denmark. We extend our heartfelt thanks for his important contributions and wish him all the very best for a happy and fulfilling retirement.
